Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
