The pace bowler has claimed over 300 dismissals in 71 Test matches with an average of 22.10.
The Australian selection chief the selector has declared that captain Pat Cummins will play a "major part" in the forthcoming historic rivalry.
Rumors had circulated that the 32-year-old might miss the series due to a persistent back stress problem that had not yet healed.
Initial reports from the squad suggested no final decision had been made regarding whether he would play, with the Test matches kicking off on 21 November in the WACA.
He revealed that Cummins is "building up" and felt positive about his chances of taking part.
"It's clear that the window is narrowing and there are permutations around that, not only the back issue, but additional elements," he commented.
"It's positive. There's strong faith that he will feature a significant role. With luck starting in Perth. Should that not happen, then we'll pick it up."
Injury History
The captain missed Australia's limited-overs series against both Asian and Trans-Tasman rivals last month after medical tests showed a lower back issue.
He has a history of recurring issues, with setbacks in multiple past seasons leading to absences from several home seasons in a limited period.
Cummins stated he would be proactive in his approach in his recovery plan to ensure his availability for the series.
Bailey noted that he did not know if the captain had resumed bowling as part of his recovery but conceded it was "getting tight" for him to be fit for the initial match.
Alternative Arrangements
Should Cummins not be fit, former captain Steve Smith will take over the captaincy.
Versatile player Green was excluded lately from the national team for their one-day international series against India as a precautionary measure because of an abdominal issue.
He labeled it as a "small issue and mentioned that Green will play in the state-level matches, so will be "ideally positioned to be ready to bowl."
"Extensive planning has gone into developing the strategy for him to participate for the initial game as an all-rounder," Bailey explained.
"Originally, he'd only feature in the first two ODIs anyway. The way he swings the bat in limited-overs, if it causes any delay for a short period, we opted to approach this more conservatively."
